In order to work as a doctor in Germany, certain requirements must be met. One of these is language competence. German language skills must be at least B2 level, with many clinics promoting a C1 level.
Examinations for international doctors
There are two important examinations that international doctors must pass in Germany:
Residency training in Germany
Residency training in Germany is a structured training program that usually lasts five to six years. During this time, doctors gain practical experience in their chosen specialty and attend
theoretical courses. After completing their training and passing the relevant examinations, they are awarded the title of specialist.

3) Documents confirming that you are unobjectionable
You must prove to the licensing authority that you are free of criminal offences. To do this, you must submit the following documents: A certificate of good conduct as well as a declaration that you are free of criminal offences and a ‘certificate of good standing’. These documents are official letters from your place of study/work and residence certifying that you are free of criminal offences.
A certificate of good standing provides information about all existing criminal convictions and should be applied for at the local registration office in the country where you studied and worked.
The declaration of no criminal record is a form that you must sign. In doing so, you assure the licensing authority that no criminal proceedings are pending against you.
If you have already practiced your profession abroad, you will also need a ‘letter of good standing’. This is a certificate of good standing that you can obtain from the local professional association or the Ministry of Health in the country where you worked.
To obtain a license to practice, you also need a medical certificate stating that you are in good health to practice your profession. You can also submit this document after you have passed the recognition examinations.
2) Academic and/ Professional Documents
The licensing authority first needs a translated, certified copy of your degree certificate, which confirms that you have successfully completed your studies. It also needs a translated, certified copy of your subject index, which lists all the subjects you have studied and the scope of teaching.
The licensing authority will also require translated, certified copies of the certificates of your practical year and your professional license from your country of study or origin. Candidates should take into account the waiting times for the visa, recognition, waiting times for the exams, etc., MEDPRO-GERMANY has no influence on this.
All documents that you submit to the licensing authority must first be notarised, then translated and, if necessary, certified. This is a special form of certification of the official documents submitted. This is also known as an apostille.
